Corona Virus (Covid-19) | Current Status of Pakistan:

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Corona Virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) or commonly referred as Covid-19. Is a mild respiratory illness that is caused by a coronavirus. The viruses originated in China at the end of December 2019 as the name indicates. Up till today a lot have been told by the government, mass media and social media. Currently they have been more than 1500 cases in Pakistan and more than 700K worldwide.

To sum up the general symptom, a person may have a mild fever with a moderate respiratory inflammation. As up today most of the people recover without any special treatment. As the virus is new and general statistics about the disease are constantly being changing. The most effected are the elderly people or with those having underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer or other immune related problems. Pregnant women are also in the list of people that are likely to develop serious illness. But in Pakistan the trend is much different because 90% of the cases are between the age of 20-50. As of March, mortality rate of the coronavirus was set at 3.8% by the World Health Organization (WHO). In Pakistan the mortality rate is even lower at 0.8% declared by the government of Pakistan.

Global organizations like the WHO and Individual Government of every country have issued their health care advisories. The basic principle is to wash your hands and keep social distancing. Quarantines are also set up in every country. To keep infected individual apart from the society to avoid local transmission of the disease. For an epidemic same principle was laid by our Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) 14 hundred years ago

“If you hear of a plague in a land, do not enter therein. If it befalls a land and you are in it, then do not go out of it.”
Prophet's Seal
Al-Bukhaari: 5728
Muslim: 2218
“The one who flees from the plague is like one who flees from battle, so whoever endures patiently will have the reward of a martyr.”
Prophet's Seal
Ahmad: 14793, 24527

The government of Pakistan is trying its level best to contain this pandemic at a minimum, but as a Pakistani we ought to do we are told not to do. Iran is considered as the second most effected country by this pandemic during the initial phase of the disease spread. Shia Pilgrims that were in Iran during their religious ceremony came back to Pakistan through the Taftan Border. According to private media channel roughly 800 pilgrims were infected with the coronavirus and were the major cause of local spread of disease in Pakistan. Most of them were transported to different quarantine centers across Punjab, Sind and KPK, but few of them fled the quarantine and become the Patient zero in their specific regions. Reports came from different regions like Karachi, Multan, Lahore, Mia Channu, Faqir Wali and many other smaller districts only because of carelessness from these infected persons. Severe actions were also taken against these culprits but due to their impatience and non-confidence on the government they become the source of disease spread.

There have been 13 deaths until now and the number is nowhere to come to a halt. Currently 30 Medical Staff (Doctors/Nurses and General Health care professionals) have also been tested positive for the coronavirus. The government have also announced an extra salary package for our country’s first line of defense against this pandemic and also for those who are living under the poverty line, who are earning their income on daily basis. Relief packages were also announced by the respective provincial government. During this hard time Pakistan Army has also taken its on initiatives to provide their medical wing for the service of the People of Pakistan. Same is the case with different NGOs that are providing food services in their respective area.

The greed has consumed our nation and everyone is the society believes that if government is paying than we are the deservant. During the times like these we forget about those that are even more deservant than us and try to snatch other pockets just to fill ours. One of the biggest examples is the availability and cost of simple face mask. Whose price is gone up to Rs. 50/-. There are many other examples and a lot of more will be seen in the coming day.

Despite all these efforts the people of Pakistan are ignoring the problem as it’s just an occasional storm that will pass by with some consequences. But the thing that people don’t realize that the consequences are not static they move from person to person until they die. The death toll in Italy touched 10K only because of ignorance and if we don’t focus on ourselves a similar fate also awaits us. So, we urge the entire nation to start focusing on the preventive approaches rather than believing in fate or destiny.

Destiny is not a matter of Chance
It is a matter of Choice
It is not a thing to be waited for
It is a thing to be acted upon
